The Acer XV Thriver provides golfers with the best of both worlds by generating near-driver distance with the control of a 5 wood off of the tee. The Acer XV single length driver head is the same weight is a 5 wood head, which is 20 grams heavier than a normal driver, and the standard length is 42" which is the same length as a 5 wood as well. The result is a club which feels and swings just like a 5 wood, which most golfers hit considerably straighter than their driver, but the larger head size gives you the forgiveness of a driver and nearly the same distance!

Some golfers may see a slight loss of 10-15 yards on their best drives, but most will see an increase in average distance and a higher percentage of fairways hit because they are hitting the center of the face more often! The Acer XV Thriver is designed with one thing in mind - finding fairways, and it does that at a rate of 2-3x more often than a regular driver for most golfers.

Year after year the Acer XV single length driver has been one of our best selling and highest rated clubs, give it a try and you'll find out why!

*NOTICE* It is recommend that you go up 1° in loft from what you normally play in a traditional length driver

Clubs feel good just took longer to get them than what I thought

C
Conway Lesperance
ACER XV Driver

First hit on the range, straight as an arrow and 260 yards, on the course distance was comparable to my playing partners but was more in play.

R
Roc Can
Nice driver

Only played a coupled of times since I received my acer driver. So far so good. I had to adjust my tee height higher, but I find myself in the fairway more often and I haven't notice any lost of distance (170-200). Would recommend this club to anyone looking for a change.

Sounds ugly but it works!

Because there is extra weight added inside the club head balance out the club's short length, the club sounds ugly when you hit it. But, if you like the ball staying on the fairway more often, this is a great club and that's what I wanted. I probably lost 15 yards or so of distance but I'm probably hitting three or four more fairways each round then I was without it.

Acer XV Thriver Single Length Driver

Website easy to use. On time delivery. Craftsmanship correct. Acer vs. old driver= I lost about 20 yards but targeting has improved.
I am very pleased with this single length driver.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Ask a Question
  • I am using a driver with 2 degree draw how would this compare for for me to use the xv

This driver has a 1° closed (draw) face, so it would be very close to what you're using now.

  • Can you give some guidelines in choosing a shaft flex? For instance, if you have a swing speed of 90 mph, shaft "X" would be a good fit. Thank you.

The general guidelines for shaft flex is 80-90mph = reg flex, 90-100mph = stiff, 100+= X-stiff, 70-80, mph=senior, and <70mph=ladies. But those are very general guidelines, the swing speed ratings can vary depending on the shaft model.

  • general. I am concerned about a 3" difference between a standard driver and the ACER XV - If I order the driver as a 44" will that impact your specs for the lie angle and weight you have the head set for 42"? I am trying to understand if increasing the shaft will defeat the purpose of your standard recommendation. My concern is losing distance with the loft and shorter shaft combination. thanks for the info..

I would not recommend ordering this driver at +2" (44") unless that's the length you need to fit your height (if you're 6'6" or taller), since as you mentioned that would entirely defeat the purpose of this club - which is to feel and swing just like a 5 wood for better accuracy. This single length driver isn't meant to hit the ball as far as possible, it is meant to make your drives as consistent as possible. What you'll typically experience with the the shorter driver is that you may lose around 15 yards on your longest drives, but you'll likely find that your bad swings easily go 15-20 yards farther and much straighter. So your overall average distance may actually increase, depending on how inconsistent you are with a longer driver. And we've had many customers tell us that their longest drives have actually increased as well, because they are able to swing harder since they have more confidence in their swing because they are hitting it straighter. Bottom line, I would recommend ordering the length that fits you based on your height and just trust in the club to do what it's supposed to do - hit the ball straight. :)

  • Are the irons, the fairway woods and the drivers the same length ?

The driver and fairway woods are the same length as each other, however they are longer than the irons. The woods are all based on a 5-wood length (42") as the standard length, while the irons are based on 7-iron (37") length. So if you get a full set with the Driver, fairway woods, and irons, you'd end up having all your woods at one length and all your irons (or hybirds & irons if you get a combo set) at another length. That means you'll only need to use two different swings - one for the woods, one for the irons - to hit every club in your bag! It's an incredibly easy setup to master.

  • Hi, I'm about to buy a whole left handed set of clubs from you guys but I'm left handed. I see you have irons for left handed people but no woods, is that right ? Is there any other ptions you recommend ?

Unfortunately none of the single length woods come in left-handed. However, what we've done in the past for lefties is taken a set of traditional driver and fairway woods and modified them to be made at the same length. The biggest factor in making sure the woods perform correctly when made all at the same length as each other is the head weight. Typically a driver head weighs around 195-200g, a 3 wood head is about 210g, and a 5 wood is around 220g, but the single length driver and fairway woods are all 220g. So we can take a set of woods that has a screw weight port and used what's called a "hot melt" gun to inject additional weight into the heads, bringing them all up to 220g, and then they can all be made at the same length and will all swing and feel exactly the same.

It looks like we have the Acer XV Driver (the same one the Thriver is based on) available in LH in a 10.5 loft, which would play like a 9.5 loft at the shorter 5-wood length, and then we also have the matching Acer XV 3 & 5 fairway woods. So we would add 15-20g to the driver head, 10g to the 3-wood head, and the 5-wood remains unaltered. The pricing on that set would be the same as the Acer Thriver and a set of the Pinhawk fairway woods, so if you'd like to order that set you can place an order online for the RH Acer Thriver and Pinhawk woods, and then in the Notes section on the shopping cart page just mention that you need the woods in left-handed. Once we get the order we'll update it on our end and get those built for you.

  • how many cc's of volume in the head?

This is a 4600cc driver head

  • Do you offer the Acer XV Titanium Thriver Mini driver?

We do carry the Acer XV Thriver Mini, but it's not listed on the website at the moment. The price for that club is $20 less than the Thriver, so if you would like to order one you can just make a note on the checkout page that you you would prefer the Mini instead. When we receive the order we will refund you $20 and send you the Mini version instead.

  • what kind of shaft should i select for left handed 50 year old man just starting to play golf?

Unfortunately this driver is only available in right handed. The only left-handed clubs we have are the Pinhawk irons, none of the drivers or fairway woods are available in left-handed at the moment.

  • If I make an order for Acer XV Thriver Single Length Driver today, when will you be able to ship out the driver?

We don't have an exact date yet, but they will be here by the end of this month. And we should be able to get all the back orders shipped out within a couple of days of when they arrive.

  • What weight screw come standard in this driver ?

The head comes from the factory weighing 210g, but then we add 10g of weight which makes it 220g to match our fairway woods and be built at a 42" standard length.

  • What is the driver’s standard build swing weight? If the driver is 3 inches shorter than normal (42” vs 45”), isn’t that typically 18 swing weights lighter, which would need 36 grams added to offset? Thanks for helping to clarify.

The weight of this head is 220g which is the same weight as a 5 wood head, so it will have the same swingweight as a 5 wood made at the same length.

  • is the acer mini legal for usga play?

Absolutely! All of the clubs that we sell are USGA conforming.
